Limbal incision with conjunctival continuous key-pattern suture in squint surgery.

چکیده
This paper describes an improvement in the technique of limbal incision of the conjunctiva in squint operations. The limbal incision was first described by Zugsmith (I959) as a peritomy incision, but Massin and Hudelo (I962) were the first to show its full advantage in squint surgery, and von Noorden (i 968, i 969) improved the technique. The limbal incision has the merits of providing a scarless bulbar conjunctival incision and facilitating the performance of the surgical steps on Tenon's capsule and the muscle. It is made well away from the site on which the resection or recession of the muscle is performed and renders the suturing of Tenon's capsule easier by avoiding unwanted adhesions (Swan and Talbot, 1954; Ingram, I966).

Simplified limbal approach in squint surgery.
The limbal approach is not new to squint surgery* but, despite its considerable advantages in exposure and subsequent healing, the methods described so far are not easy to perform to obtain the best final results. In particular, the incision commonly described needs very accurate suturing of the conjunctival flap with its two radially placed incisions to achieve a good cosmetic result. The meth...
متن کاملPre-placed versus Post-placed Corneo-scleral Sutures in Cataract Surgery.
THE closure and healing of the wound in cataract surgery is a most important factor in the success of the operation, and various suturing techniques have been evolved. The present communication attempts to evaluate the results in 668 cases operated on from January to November, 1961. The same pre-operative preparation, operative technique, and post-operative treatment were used, and the same thr...
متن کاملComparison of Fibrin Glue and Sutures for Conjunctival Wound Closure in Strabismus Surgery
PURPOSE To evaluate and compare the efficacy and tolerance of fibrin glue and sutures for closing conjunctival wounds in strabismus surgery. METHODS In a prospective trial, we performed strabismus surgery using limbal incisions. Conjunctival wounds were closed with fibrin glue in 20 eyes of 20 patients (fibrin group) and 8-0 polyglactin suture in 20 eyes of 20 patients (suture group). Postope...
متن کاملTreatment of Suture-related Complications of Buried-suture Double-eyelid Blepharoplasty in Asians
BACKGROUND Double-eyelid blepharoplasty is a popular aesthetic surgery in Asians. However, the buried suture technique is associated with complications related to implantation of the suture thread. The present study was performed to identify optimal surgical suture removal techniques in Japanese patients with suture-related complications after buried suture double-eyelid blepharoplasty. METHO...
متن کاملComparison between limbal (von Noorden) and para limbal (Santiago) conjunctival incisions for adjustable recessions of horizontal recti.
INTRODUCTION Both limbal and para limbal conjunctival incisions are routinely used in strabismus surgery with comparable results however their outcome has not been compared while using adjustable sutures. OBJECTIVE To compare limbal (von Noorden) and para limbal (Santiago) conjunctival incisions for adjustable recessions of horizontal recti. SUBJECTS AND METHODS Uniocular adjustable recessi...
